About the County Clerk

Donna Alley Simpson was elected County Clerk in 1998. Prior to being elected Donna worked in the County Clerk’s Office for 10 years. A native of Bradley County, Donna attended Bradley Central High School and Cleveland State Community College where she received a degree as a legal assistant. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service Certified Public Administrator program and was chosen as Tennessee’s Outstanding County Official in 2011; County Clerk of the year in 2006 and Outstanding County clerk in 2004. Donna is past president of the County Officials Association of Tennessee and past president of the Tennessee Association of County Clerks.

The county clerk is a constitutional officer and is elected by the people for a term of four years. The Bradley County Clerk’s Office has numerous duties that include several types of licenses. This includes but is not limited to vehicle licenses, marriage licenses, and business licenses. The county clerk’s office also handles the issuance of notary applications, collection of sales tax for boats, and the titling of vehicles.

The county clerk is the clerk of the county legislative body and maintains the official Bradley County Commission minutes which are available for public viewing.
